I · U.S. House, TN-2 · Tier 3/4

Tier 3/4, between “Pro-Israel, critical” and “Critical / conditions aid”

Position

Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he answered “No” and said the U.S. should “break away from the Middle East as a region and become energy independent,” which “allows us to scale down military operations, presence, and funding to redirect towards more beneficial endeavors domestically and among our actual allies”; in the same questionnaire he wrote that “The war in Iran and the military funding, mergers, and contracts with the Middle East need to be ended. Only humanitarian aid to the region should continue.” A seventh-generation East Tennessean and river guide, he runs against Citizens United and for housing, environmental protection and working-class investment; his platform backs a military able “to protect global trade and democracy” while cutting “our senseless campaigns of military destruction,” and his site says he answers to the people, “not corporate donors or foreign governments.” No statement on Gaza or Palestinians found.

Why this tier

A 3/4, on a thin record: his answers to iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire. Asked whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he answered “No,” saying the U.S. should “break away from the Middle East as a region and become energy independent,” which “allows us to scale down military operations, presence, and funding.” On foreign policy he wrote: “The war in Iran and the military funding, mergers, and contracts with the Middle East need to be ended. Only humanitarian aid to the region should continue.” That is an end to military funding for the region, given in answer to the Israel question, and not a blanket stance against foreign aid: the same answer calls for “much more assistance” to Ukraine. He argues it on energy independence and spending at home rather than on Israel’s conduct, and his answers, survey and site say nothing on Gaza or Palestinians. Counter-case: a 3, since his Israel answer itself says “scale down,” not end, and the sentence that says “ended” names the region, not Israel.
