Alaha Ahrar

I · U.S. House, VA-7 · Tier 2

Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A Kabul-born economist, poet and human-rights advocate who heads the charity International Kindness Sharing, she runs as an independent on justice, economic opportunity, education and immigrant advancement. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Ahrar answered: “Yes. The U.S. relationship with Israel is important, as are our relationships with allies and partners worldwide. I support Israel’s right to exist in peace and security and Palestinians’ right to peace, freedom, security, and dignity. Civilians must be protected. I believe our foreign policy should reflect our values, protect American interests, support human rights, encourage diplomacy, and pursue lasting peace and security for both peoples and all people.”

Why this tier

A 2, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Ahrar wrote: “I support Israel’s right to exist in peace and security and Palestinians’ right to peace, freedom, security, and dignity. Civilians must be protected.” That is concern for civilians and for Palestinians’ rights beside Israel’s security, with no step on aid or weapons. Her campaign site's full text (read from its script bundle), Ballotpedia (no survey) and Vote411 (no responses) never mention Israel or Gaza. Counter-cases: 2/3, giving “Civilians must be protected” more weight; 1/2, reading the security frame as decisive.
