Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Lost the Aug 18, 2026 Democratic primary for the Florida Senate special to Angie Nixon, 44% to 56%, after outraising her by roughly 16 to 1. “I’m committed to the security of the state of Israel.” His critical notes are Netanyahu criticism, concern about settlements, and that “this war has gone on too long” — none of it concern for Palestinian civilians. FEC shows zero AIPAC and zero DMFI money to his committee and no pro-Israel independent expenditure for or against him — the only outside spending on file is about $4,300 in supporting text-message buys from two generic Democratic PACs.

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record: one set of remarks at the Florida Democratic Party’s summit in July 2026. He said, “I’m committed to the security of the state of Israel,” and framed his criticism around a two-state solution: he is “very much concerned about a policy that undermines a two-state solution,” including “settlers infringing on the viability of a state,” has “been consistently critical” of Netanyahu, and thinks “this war has gone on too long.” None of it voices concern for Palestinian civilians, and his objection to the war’s length comes in the same breath as his commitment to Israel’s security. He held no office and no leadership role on the issue, and no pro-Israel PAC money reached his campaign. He lost the August 18 primary to Angie Nixon. He is the twin brother of Rep. Eugene Vindman; the two have separate records.
