Tier 4, “Critical / conditions aid”

Position

She is a Chattanooga small-business owner, protest chaplain and progressive faith leader. In a September 16, 2026 campaign statement she said “it’s important for me to name the ongoing genocide in Gaza and equally hold to account apartheid,” that “I was educated to understand the United States as a settler-colonialist state, and to not acknowledge Israel as such would be ignoring my education,” and that “I do not support spending our tax dollars without verifiable compliance with international law and a standard for human rights,” while denouncing antisemitism and insisting “a critique of Israel or Zionism in no way be understood as a critique of the Jewish people.” Her campaign does not accept AIPAC dollars.

Why this tier

A 4, on a challenger’s statement. She names the genocide and apartheid in her own voice, calls Israel a settler-colonialist state, and ties U.S. military aid to “verifiable compliance with international law and a standard for human rights” — a conditioning pledge that, set beside her own genocide finding, points to withholding it — and she refuses AIPAC money. What keeps her at 4 rather than toward 5 is that the stated policy is conditions on aid, not an embargo or an end to all military aid, and she takes no stated position on BDS, the right of return or a Jewish state. Counter-case: 4/5, reading the settler-colonial characterization of Israel as a step toward questioning its legitimacy.
