Aristotle Eliopoulos
I · U.S. House, NJ-8 · not rated
An independent in NJ-8, a Jersey City teacher and union representative running on special-needs advocacy and affordability; asked by NJ Spotlight News about the Iran war, he said “I would support diplomacy and deterrence while maintaining the capability to respond to threats against Americans and our allies.” Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Eliopoulos answered: “Yes, U.S.-Israel relationship is generally considered important due to military and intelligence cooperation, economic and technology ties, and long-standing political support in the U.S. with Jewish Americans.”
Not rated: the one statement on Israel is the 2026 iVoterGuide answer quoted above. His answer explains why the relationship is “generally considered important” — military and intelligence cooperation, economic and technology ties, political support at home — rather than stating support of his own, and says nothing on aid, weapons, Gaza or Palestinians. No individual position on Israel, Gaza or Palestine in his NJ Spotlight answers, Ballotpedia survey or campaign site. The site’s “America abroad” plank — support for allies, closer U.S.–Greece ties and “stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean” — names Greece but not Israel, and his Iran answer is a generic defense-and-allies line. Counter-case: a thin 1/2, reading the answer as ally language. Unrated until a position is stated.
