Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
He is president of the Fairfax County Taxpayers Alliance and a retired computer programmer. Asked by Cardinal News about an arms embargo, he did not answer it directly: “The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) does not want and will not allow a peaceful settlement between Israel and the Palestinians… Israel should be able to defend itself. However, 750,000 Palestinians were expelled between 1947-49. I'm not convinced that was necessary.”
A flat 2, provisionally. His frame is pro-Israel — Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is the obstacle to peace and “Israel should be able to defend itself” — with no position on aid or arms and no leadership on the issue. What separates him from 1/2 is an unusual acknowledgment, in his own words, of the Nakba expulsions: “750,000 Palestinians were expelled between 1947-49. I'm not convinced that was necessary.” Because it comes in the same breath as Israel’s right to defend itself, 1/2 is the counter-case, and NR is defensible since he never answered the embargo question.
