Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”

Position

Appointed to the Senate by DeSantis in Jan 2025 to replace Marco Rubio; running in the 2026 special election. A reliably pro-Israel senator: authored the RECLAIM Act to claw back federal funds from universities that violate Jewish students' civil rights, calls for the complete elimination of Hamas, supports continued US security assistance to Israel, and as Florida AG opposed BDS (led a multistate anti-BDS probe). RJC-endorsed.

Why this tier

A clean but close Tier 1, held on anti-BDS enforcement leadership rather than communal work alone. As Florida AG she led an 18-state coalition of attorneys general probing MSCI over BDS ties, and joined a 17-state letter to Morningstar on the same question — proactive, Israel-policy-specific leadership (the AG equivalent of authored Israel legislation), not mere endorsement. She pairs that with a maximalist brand (joined a multistate statement praising Israel’s “resilience and restraint,” calls for the complete elimination of Hamas, “unequivocally support their right to exist”) and authored the RECLAIM Act. The RECLAIM Act by itself addresses antisemitism on campus rather than Israel policy, but the sustained anti-BDS leadership plus the maximalist brand plus a concern for Palestinian civilians that goes no further than the 2023 attorneys general statement she joined, which regrets that Israel’s self-defense “will cost lives” but lays “every life lost” at Hamas’s feet, is what makes a clean 1. A genuine judgment call between 1 and 1/2.
