Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Panama City attorney, former General Counsel to Sen. Rick Scott and earlier Republican chief counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee, who won the August 2026 GOP primary for the open FL-2 seat. His issues page says “the United States must continue providing critical support as Israel faces ongoing threats from Iran, Hamas, and other hostile actors in the Middle East” and that he “has overseen hearings and reports on antisemitism in the United States Senate”; in April 2026 he told The Floridian that “Israel is a strategic ally and partner” and rejected the idea that Israel drew the U.S. into the Iran war (“the United States does not get dragged into anything we do not want to get dragged into”). No statement about Palestinian civilians.
A 1/2, not a clean 1. His Israel statements pledge continued “critical support” and call Israel “a strategic ally and partner,” framed entirely around threats to Israel and the Iran war, with no concern expressed for Palestinian civilians — the textbook zero-daylight 1/2. What keeps him short of a clean 1 is the absence of any Israel-policy leadership of his own: the antisemitism hearings and reports he cites were staff work for senators, and his signature legislative project is the SAFE KIDS Act on Chinese surrogacy. Counter-case: if that Senate staff work turns out to include running official investigations of campus Palestine-solidarity groups, the crackdown route to a clean 1 would be in play; the specifics are unverified.
