Barry Moore
R · U.S. Senate, Alabama · Tier 1
Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”
Trump-endorsed; won the 2026 GOP Senate runoff (def. Jared Hudson) for Tuberville’s open seat. Voted for the Israel Security Supplemental, uses Christian-Zionist framing (bless them that bless Israel), and called recognition of a Palestinian state deeply troubling. But he is a House Freedom Caucus fiscal hawk who lists foreign aid/USAID first among his priorities for cutting government waste and campaigns on skepticism of unchecked foreign aid, while framing Israel as the exception. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Moore answered: “For me, it’s as simple as 1, 2, 3 because Genesis 12:3 says, ‘And I will bless them that bless Israel, and curse them that curse Israel.’ It is imperative we support and supply Israel with resources and demonstrate strength on the world’s stage in a time of grave danger.”
A 1. He has written resolutions on Israel’s behalf: in October 2023 one condemning Rashida Tlaib for calling Israel an apartheid system and for the Palestinian flag outside her office, and in July 2024, as Netanyahu prepared to address Congress, one condemning the International Criminal Court’s treatment of Netanyahu and Gallant: “It is not a war crime to defend yourself against terrorists who seek to wipe your people off the face of the earth.” He voted for every Israel aid package, uses maximalist Christian-Zionist framing (“I will bless them that bless Israel”) and calls recognition of a Palestinian state deeply troubling, with no Israel-specific conditioning. He is a Freedom Caucus fiscal hawk who lists foreign aid first among his priorities for cutting government waste, but he carves Israel out as the exception. Counter-case: 1/2, if one-chamber resolutions, one of them aimed at a colleague, are weighed as statements rather than Israel legislation.
