Benjamin Wesley

I · U.S. House, CT-4 · Tier 4/5

Tier 4/5, between “Critical / conditions aid” and “Critical on most positions”

Position

An engineer and the Independent Party of Connecticut's nominee for the second time, he runs as “the peace candidate.” His 2026 campaign site pledges to “Immediately end of all weapons sales/donations to Israel for the immediate future,” calls passing Block the Bombs (H.R.3565) “a great start to ending arms sales,” would also bar drones, small arms and ammunition, and calls for restoring UNRWA; it speaks of “Israel's genocide in Gaza and Lebanon.” In 2024 he called for “an end to weapons sales to Israel” until a lasting ceasefire and wrote of “A genocide of a people paid for with our hard-earned tax-dollars.”

Why this tier

A 4/5. As a challenger he has no votes in Congress, so his words are the record. His 2026 priorities page pledges to “Immediately end of all weapons sales/donations to Israel for the immediate future,” with no carve-out for defensive systems, calls passing Block the Bombs “a great start to ending arms sales,” and speaks of “Israel’s genocide in Gaza and Lebanon”; in 2024 he wrote of “A genocide of a people paid for with our hard-earned tax-dollars.” The stance has held since 2024, and his site lists Gaza ceasefire advocacy going back to March 2024. What holds it short of 5 is that both versions of the cutoff are time-bound: an end to weapons sales “until there’s a lasting ceasefire agreement” in 2024, and “for the immediate future” in 2026. He seeks “a lasting political settlement between Palestine and Israel,” with no anti-Zionist, BDS or right-of-return position. Counter-case: 5, since the cutoff covers every weapon and he names the genocide without hedging.
