Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
NY-21 (North Country). Dairy farmer and self-described pragmatic, moderate blue-dog Democrat; won the June 2026 primary and faces Republican Anthony Constantino in November for Stefanik's open seat. His campaign is domestic (rural healthcare, farming, immigration, costs), and his words on Israel are a few social posts. On the second anniversary of October 7 he remembered “the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust” and said the hostages still held were owed a continued fight for their freedom. Welcoming “the return of the remaining hostages in Hamas custody” on October 13, 2025, he called it “a day of celebration” and asked for a lasting peace, “one where the suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza ends.” On Iran he wrote in June 2025 that “rushing into strikes without exhausting diplomacy and getting Congressional approval risks chaos and another endless war,” and in October 2026 he told Mountain Lake PBS it was “absolutely necessary to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon” while faulting how the war was waged for what it has cost rural families. No words of his on military aid or weapons for Israel were found.
A thin 2: his words on Israel are two October 2025 social posts. On the second anniversary of October 7 he remembered “the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” and, welcoming the hostages’ return, he asked for a lasting peace, “one where the suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza ends.” Concern for Palestinian civilians in his own words, without pairing it with Israel’s self-defense, is a little daylight inside a mainstream pro-Israel frame. He has said nothing on military aid or weapons and skipped the one general-election debate. Counter-case: 1/2, since the line about Palestinians is one sentence inside a post celebrating the hostages’ return.
