Blake Miguez

R · U.S. House, LA-6 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A Louisiana legislator since 2015, he coauthored House resolutions that “condemn any and all efforts to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel” (HR 228, 2016) and that commend Israel's 74th anniversary while placing the Jewish national home “including the areas of Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem” (HR 111, 2022), voting for both, and coauthored and voted for the 2019 law letting public bodies reject the low bid of a vendor that boycotts Israel (HB 245, Act 155; House 96–0). As a state senator he voted in April 2024, during the genocide, for SCR 21, which memorializes Congress to support Israel “in the wake of the October 7, 2023, terror attacks and Israel's efforts to root out Hamas” and backs Israel's right to reject any settlement not reached in direct talks. His Club for Growth-backed congressional campaign runs on corruption, energy, guns and MAHA and says nothing about Israel.

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. Every act on his statehouse record is pro-Israel with zero daylight — coauthor of an anti-BDS resolution and of an anniversary resolution claiming Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem for the Jewish national home, and Yeas on a 2023 resolution marking Israel’s 75th anniversary and the 2024 resolution urging Congress to back Israel's war — and he has expressed no concern for Palestinian civilians. None of it is leadership: he was one of dozens of coauthors rather than the author (as on the 2019 anti-boycott procurement law, HB 245), the resolutions were nonbinding, and there is no anti-BDS enforcement he drove and no Israel-centred brand. The counter-case is thinness — all five votes were near-unanimous; a flat 2 would need a statement of concern for Gaza's civilians in his own words.
