Blay Tarnoff
I · U.S. House, NY-4 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Libertarian candidate in NY-4, the Nassau County party chair and a Libertarian activist since 1990. In his 2026 iVoterGuide questionnaire he called Israel “an outpost” that “provides a shining and crucially important local example of the benefits of such liberty,” adding that “Although Israel is dangerously socialist and must improve its political system, it is also especially valuable to the US to remain closely tied to a people who are so able to produce more value per capita than any other” — while also pledging to “Gradually reduce all foreign aid to zero.”
A 1/2, with a caveat. On Israel itself his words are pro-Israel with no daylight: Israel as a liberty outpost the U.S. should stay closely tied to, set against a “red-green alliance” of socialism and radical Islam, and no concern expressed for Palestinian civilians — but no leadership on the issue. His pledge to cut all foreign aid to zero would end aid to Israel along with everything else; that is a general Libertarian stance, not an Israel-specific position.
