Brian Fitzpatrick
R · U.S. House, PA-1 · Tier 1
Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”
Original cosponsor of the Stand with Israel Act (H.R.9374, Aug 16 2024 — sponsored by Mike Lawler, with Jared Moskowitz as Democratic co-lead), which withholds US funding from UN agencies that restrict Israel and was endorsed by AIPAC, RJC, CUFI, ZOA, JINSA and others; original cosponsor of H.R.867, the IGO Anti-Boycott Act; voted for the $26B Israel aid supplemental and to sanction the ICC. In February 2024 he was lead sponsor of the bipartisan Defending Borders, Defending Democracies Act (H.R.7372), with $10.4 billion for Israel’s defense. RJC-endorsed and AIPAC-backed. In January 2024 he signed the Smith–Manning letter, whose signers “thoroughly reject” South Africa’s “charge of genocide” against Israel.
A 1. Fitzpatrick is the most bipartisan House member, but none of that moderation touches Israel. In February 2024 he was the lead sponsor of the bipartisan Defending Borders, Defending Democracies Act (H.R.7372), which paired a year of border authorities with defense-only funding for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, including $10.4 billion for Israel’s defense, $4 billion of it for Iron Dome and David’s Sling. He was also an original cosponsor of the Stand with Israel Act and of the anti-boycott bill, and he votes the full pro-Israel slate with no daylight, including the May 2024 bill forcing delivery of the paused bombs and both ICC-sanctions bills. No concern for Palestinian civilians in his own words was found. Counter-case: 1/2, since the bill he wrote was a border-and-defense package for three countries rather than Israel legislation alone, and the rest of his record is mostly votes and cosponsorships, as with Brad Finstad, though he also wrote a November 2023 resolution condemning Hamas’s use of human shields (H.Res.885) and a floor amendment, adopted 412–11, declaring that only Hamas’s unconditional surrender “will save innocent civilian lives.”
