Tier 2/3, between “Mainstream pro-Israel” and “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

Ironworker and Brook Park councilman who has avoided detailed Israel positions; he is backed by J Street (as a priority candidate), the Jewish Democratic Council of America and Bernie Sanders. At an August 2026 campaign event he attacked Max Miller's backing of a bill extending U.S. service-member protections to Americans serving in the IDF — “He’s fighting for Israeli soldiers to get the benefits that our military members get” — adding “what you support is another country’s military … That’s not the America First that I believe in”; he has called the Iran war “disastrous”.

Why this tier

A 2/3, low confidence. His only Israel remark in his own words is an America First critique of Miller backing “another country’s military”, which is daylight but not a position on aid, weapons or Gaza. Holding him toward 2 are secondhand reports: JDCA says he “supports Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish and democratic state” and Israel's security, and a backer told Jewish Insider his view is that “defense funding should continue”, though the backer added, “I don’t think he wants to see American dollars used for continued war.” Counter-case: NR, since his campaign declined to state a position and the pro-Israel characterizations are other people's words.
