Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Asked in a June 2026 NewsChannel 5 interview where he stands on giving Israel aid or weapons, he said “there’s no question that Israel is one of our staunchest allies. And we have an obligation to help support our allies to make sure that they are safe,” adding that “the current administration in Israel is not necessarily always making the right decisions” while the “relationship is rock solid, even if we have some disagreements.” The mayor of Columbia, Tennessee, since 2018 and an attorney, the TN-5 Democratic nominee for the open seat runs on lowering costs, expanding healthcare access and keeping rural hospitals open.
A 2, on a thin record: one interview answer from June 2026. Asked by NewsChannel 5 where he stands on giving Israel aid or weapons, he said “there’s no question that Israel is one of our staunchest allies. And we have an obligation to help support our allies to make sure that they are safe,” adding that “the current administration in Israel is not necessarily always making the right decisions” while the “relationship is rock solid, even if we have some disagreements.” That is a mainstream Democratic answer, with a reservation about Israel’s government but no word on Gaza or Palestinian civilians. He did not answer the Tennessee Holler’s April 2026 question on ending all aid to Israel. DMFI PAC endorsed him in September 2026 among “five pro-Israel Democratic candidates”; FEC filings show no pro-Israel PAC money. His site and Ballotpedia survey say nothing on Israel, and as Columbia’s mayor he has no record on it. Counter-case: a 1/2, since criticism of Israel’s government is not concern for Palestinians, leaving an ally answer to a question about aid and weapons.
