Chris Baum

I · U.S. Senate, Colorado · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A retired Navy commander and computer consultant, the Approval Voting Party nominee runs on voting-system reform, ending deficit spending, smaller government and a strong defense. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Baum answered: “Israel is a beacon of freedom in the authoritarian and tyrannical middle east. It should be helped.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record: two questionnaire answers. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Baum wrote: “Israel is a beacon of freedom in the authoritarian and tyrannical middle east. It should be helped.” That is support for helping Israel, with no word on Gaza or Palestinian civilians. Running for the House in 2024, he answered the same question more narrowly: “Only to the extent that Israel’s existence is necessary to the safety and defense of the United States.” He has no campaign site and skipped Ballotpedia’s 2024 survey; his 2022 and 2026 surveys cover approval voting, election integrity, the deficit, limited government and defense, with no word on Israel. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until he says more.
