Chris Shea

R · U.S. House, CT-5 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

His campaign's issues page says “Chris believes America should stand with our ally Israel and support its right to self-defense,” inside a peace-through-strength defense plank — the only position on Israel located; he left iVoterGuide's questionnaire, including its question on the U.S.–Israel relationship, unanswered. He is a retired Navy SEAL and former Pentagon official, and a firefighter (a lieutenant in the North Haven Fire Department) and paramedic.

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record. His one stated position is unqualified support for Israel and its right to self-defense, with no expressed concern for Palestinian civilians, which rules out a flat 2; there is no leadership on the issue — no office, authored measure or Israel-specific brand. Counter-case: a flat 2 if he expresses concern for Gaza's civilians; the whole record is one platform sentence.
