Cristian Morales
R · U.S. House, CA-43 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
His 2026 congressional platform, under “Peace Through Strength,” pledges to “Support Israel's right to exist and defend itself while pursuing lasting regional peace.” As a 2022 candidate for governor he wrote “I am a staunch supporter of Israel,” praised his native Guatemala's “unconditional support of Israel and the Jewish people” and its embassy move to Jerusalem, and promised to “continue this support for Israel and Californians of Jewish faith.” Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Morales answered: “Yes, because they are our closest ally in the middle-east.”
A 1/2, not a clean 1. The record is consistent zero-daylight support across two campaigns — “staunch supporter,” Israel's right to exist and defend itself — with no word on Gaza or Palestinian civilians, so not a flat 2 (the “lasting regional peace” clause is generic, not civilian concern). No leadership on the issue: no office, no authored measure, no anti-BDS enforcement, no marquee fundraising. Open to a flat 2 if a statement of concern for Palestinian civilians surfaces.
