Dale Strong

R · U.S. House, AL-5 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

Huntsville appropriator who ties his support for Israel to the Redstone Arsenal missile-defense work in his district: backing the November 2023 supplemental, he said “Iranian-backed Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists are going to continue to feel the heat of Huntsville” and that Israel “has a right to defend its sovereignty.” In April 2024 he voted for the Israel package (H.R.8034) while voting against Ukraine aid, saying “we cannot abandon one of our greatest allies like the radical left would have us do.” He has taken the pro-Israel side of every tracked Israel vote — for the 2023–24 aid bills, H.Res.894, the May 2024 bill forcing delivery of the arms Biden paused, both ICC-sanctions bills and the September 2026 anti-boycott bill — and against the 2025 Greene and 2026 Massie cuts.

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. Strong has taken the pro-Israel side of every tracked Israel vote and has said nothing about Palestinian civilians, which rules out a flat 2, but there is no leadership on the issue: no authored Israel legislation, no caucus or fundraising role, and his statements are mostly vote explanations, two of which celebrate his district’s share in Israel’s missile defense. His Nay on Ukraine aid in April 2024 was paired with a Yea on the Israel package and is no break on Israel. A clean 1 would need authored legislation or a hardline brand that is not in the record.
