Tier 3, “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

In his 2026 Ballotpedia survey he wrote: “Our policy of close ties to Israel should be changed to eliminate fighting their wars for them.” A Bunkie country lawyer, former public defender and assistant district attorney, and Army veteran, he backs NATO and runs on democracy, rural hospitals and limits on data centers in LA-5’s November 3 open primary; his campaign site has no issue pages.

Why this tier

A flat 3, on a single survey sentence. Changing the close ties with Israel so the U.S. stops fighting Israel’s wars is an Israel-specific pull-back, more than criticism of Netanyahu, and it is not blanket non-interventionism — in the same answer he backs NATO and U.S. alliances. But it says nothing about weapons, military aid, Gaza or Palestinians, and “their wars” may refer to the 2026 Iran war (an inference). The comparable record is Bill Redpath, a flat 3 for ending the “special relationship.” Counter-case: NR, if the sentence is read as an Iran-war stance rather than a position on Israel.
