Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Republican nominee in the AZ-7 rematch with Rep. Adelita Grijalva. In their August 26, 2025 televised debate he said “I stand with Israel” and “The only thing we could do there is back Israel. I mean, there's nothing else going to happen. You're not going to get Hamas to come to the table,” adding that “As long as Hamas is in there, controlling that country, we're not going to get anything accomplished.” In iVoterGuide questionnaires he called Israel “our only friend in the Middle East” (2024) and “one of our closest allies” that keeps “the Middle East distracted and less focused on the rest of the world” (2025).
A 1/2, the textbook outcome. His record on Israel is a debate answer backing Israel without qualification and ruling out any path but backing it, and questionnaire answers calling Israel a close ally; there is no leadership on the issue (no office, no authored measure, no marquee fundraising or hardline brand) and no expressed concern for Palestinian civilians in any coverage found. Open to a flat 2 if a Gaza-civilian statement surfaces; coverage of the August 2026 rematch debate did not touch Israel.
