David Russ
R · U.S. House, OR-6 · not rated
A former mayor of Dundee and repeat congressional candidate, he runs as “#RussIsForUS.” Asked by iVoterGuide in 2024 whether the U.S.–Israel relationship is important, he answered that “Relationships with all allies are important until they are not,” that “neither controls, nor operates for the other,” and that allies are allies “as long as there is a return on the investment.” In his 2026 general-election questionnaire he answered that the relationship is “Not any more important than the US relationship with any other ally.”
Not rated: his Israel-specific answers, in 2024 and again in his 2026 general-election questionnaire (“Not any more important than the US relationship with any other ally”), are a transactional America First line that declines to give Israel special status, but they say nothing about aid, arms, Gaza or Palestinians; none of the other posts or pages on his campaign site (2021–2026) returns to the subject. Reading a pullback in support into “return on the investment” would be inference. Unrated until a view on aid or arms is stated.
