Tier 3, “Pro-Israel, critical”
Independent, a construction superintendent and King Center docent. His 2026 platform says “no ally or foreign government should receive a blank check,” that “American weapons and taxpayer dollars should not make our nation complicit in preventable civilian deaths,” and that “military assistance must remain subject to conditions, oversight, and accountability.” He backs “U.S. recognition of a Palestinian state” governed by civilian institutions, not Hamas, and says “Palestinians must be able to remain in Gaza, return to their communities, and rebuild without forced displacement.”
A 3. He goes past a humanitarian 2: in his own words U.S. weapons must not make the country complicit in civilian deaths, military aid must carry conditions, and Palestinians must not be displaced from Gaza — a critique of conduct plus a step toward limiting weapons, which is what a Tier 3 record looks like for a challenger. What holds him at 3 rather than 3/4 is that the conditioning line is generic — the platform names no country, and when he applied it to Israel and Gaza in a September 2026 interview (“We can’t be complicit in the deaths of innocent human beings”) he pledged no withholding of offensive arms — he does not back Block the Bombs or use the word genocide, and his endgame is a two-state frame with “security for both Palestinians and Israelis.”
