Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
In a KSN-TV candidate questionnaire published October 14, 2026, he wrote that “while Israel has a right to defend itself, what has happened in Gaza since then has caused a humanitarian crisis,” that the U.S. “should continue to work with regional allies to support humanitarian aid and rebuilding efforts,” and that Israelis and Palestinians must compromise toward “each having a place to call home.” A West Point graduate, Army veteran, veterinarian and Galesburg rancher, he runs as a plain-spoken outsider on costs, rural hospitals and fixing how “broken politics is these days”; his site lists no issue positions.
A thin 2, on one written answer. In a KSN-TV questionnaire published October 14, 2026, he called the 2023 Hamas attack horrific and wrote that “while Israel has a right to defend itself, what has happened in Gaza since then has caused a humanitarian crisis.” He wants the U.S. to keep working with regional allies on humanitarian aid and rebuilding, and says Israelis and Palestinians must compromise toward “each having a place to call home.” That is concern for Gaza in his own words, and a home for Palestinians as well as Israelis: more than a bare statement of alliance. He says nothing about military aid, weapons or Israel’s conduct of the war, and no act of his on the issue is on record. Counter-case: 1/2, since the concern comes in the same sentence as Israel’s right to defend itself, with no word on how the war is fought.
