Douglas Ollivant

R · U.S. House, VA-7 · not rated

Position

Retired Army lieutenant colonel, former NSC Director for Iraq and think-tank fellow, challenging Rep. Eugene Vindman. No campaign statement on Israel or Palestine was found: Virginia public media reported it “could not verify public statements from Doug Ollivant about the US foreign policy relationship with Israel,” and his one Middle East statement of the race backs the 2026 Iran war (“I applaud President Trump for finally saying we need to settle this problem,” June 2026).

Why not rated

Not rated: no documented individual position on Palestine and Israel as a candidate. His site’s foreign-policy plank is a generic “Peace through Strength,” and support for the Iran war is Iran framing, which does not, by itself, count as a stance on Israel. As an analyst, in an April 2021 FPRI report, he argued Israel faces no existential threat and questioned why capabilities Israeli firms now export, such as missile defense, should be provided as aid rather than sold commercially, while allowing that Israel may still deserve U.S. assistance — a pre-genocide, realist view of the aid model, not a pledge to condition or withhold. Unrated until a position is stated.
