Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

His National Defense page says he “strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship and Israel’s right to defend itself,” “supports continued military aid to Israel” and “opposes attempts to condition aid or compromise Israel’s sovereignty,” pledging to be “a steadfast ally of Israel.” An Air Force veteran and former CIA case officer from Cincinnati's West Side, he has Trump’s endorsement. In an April 2026 WVXU interview, re-aired on October 8, he called the humanitarian crisis in Gaza unfortunate and said “we need to alleviate it as much as possible,” after first saying that Hamas and its Iranian supporters attacked Israel and that Israel had the right to defend itself; he added that if Trump “solves the Iran issue, he also solves the Gaza issue as well.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. His platform is zero-daylight — continued military aid, explicit opposition to conditioning it, and nothing on Palestinian civilians — but it is platform language from a first-time candidate, not leadership: no authored Israel legislation, no lobby fundraising operation, no Israel-centered brand. His one expression of concern for Gaza’s civilians, calling the humanitarian crisis unfortunate and saying “we need to alleviate it as much as possible” (WVXU, April 2026), follows Israel’s right to defend itself in the same answer, which keeps him off a flat 2.
