Tier 3/4, between “Pro-Israel, critical” and “Critical / conditions aid”

Position

Asked by the Alaska Beacon in July 2024 how the U.S. should resolve the conflict, he answered: “I don't think America should have started supplying arms. Israel is very capable of defending itself & has a trained military to do so,” added that “Innocent children, especially those in hospitals have died,” and ended: “Call for an immediate cease fire” — while conceding that “After involvement, it's difficult to backpaddle.” In the Beacon’s 2026 general-election guide, asked about the war with Iran, he went further: “We must immediately stop arming Israel. In arming Israel, we are aiding in the killing and injuring of innocent Palestinian families and destroying their country. We must stop being part of Israel's war actions.” A perennial out-of-state candidate whom NPR reported in 2024 to be serving a 20-year federal sentence in New York for threatening officials, he finished fourth (3.8%) in Alaska’s August 2026 top-four primary and is on the November ballot against Rep. Nick Begich.

Why this tier

A 3/4, on a thin record: two short questionnaire answers to the Alaska Beacon, two years apart. In 2026, answering a question about the war with Iran, he wrote: “We must immediately stop arming Israel. In arming Israel, we are aiding in the killing and injuring of innocent Palestinian families and destroying their country.” That is an end to arming Israel argued on its conduct, though it follows an appeal to “our stated neutrality policy” in an answer about Iran. His July 2024 answer said the U.S. should never have started supplying arms, noted that innocent children “especially those in hospitals” have died and called for an immediate ceasefire, while conceding that “After involvement, it's difficult to backpaddle.” He does not use the word genocide, and nothing else from him on Israel or Gaza was found. Counter-case: 4, since the 2026 answer is an unhedged call to stop arming Israel, argued from the killing of Palestinian families; or 3, reading it as one line in an answer about Iran, after a 2024 answer that hedged.
