Tier 4, “Critical / conditions aid”

Position

A former partner at the investment firm Dragoneer and co-founder of a family foundation, challenging Rep. Mike Thompson in a Democrat-versus-Democrat general. His “No Blank Checks for War” platform promises “No military aid without a vote — and no aid without conditions,” with every package conditioned on recipients that “follow international law, and respect human rights — or the aid stops,” and pledges “I will not vote to enable mass killings, apartheid, or the collective punishment of innocent people”; the page never names Israel. At a March 2026 Indivisible Yolo forum the Davis Enterprise reported he is “against funding Israel’s actions and their use of our political system,” and he said of AIPAC: “It’s so right in front of our face that it’s almost insulting at this point.” At an October 8, 2026 League of Women Voters forum, in a discussion of the war in Gaza in which Rep. Thompson backed legislation to keep offensive weapons from going to Israel, Jones said, “I’m still trying to figure out the difference between an offensive bomb and a defensive bomb,” adding, “They both kill kids” (Sacramento Bee); earlier in the same forum he said, “No more taxpayer dollars going to Israel. No more bombs. Defensive, offensive, these are all bombs that kill kids.”

Why this tier

A 4. A challenger, he has argued at forums for ending aid to Israel on its conduct. At an October 8, 2026 League of Women Voters forum he said, “No more taxpayer dollars going to Israel. No more bombs. Defensive, offensive, these are all bombs that kill kids,” and, asked about Gaza, “if we can’t say no to the killing in Gaza, clearly, who can we believe?” At an April 2026 Indivisible Sonoma County forum he said “I’ll fight for a free Palestine” and “I will acknowledge that Israel is an apartheid state.” His written “No Blank Checks for War” platform conditions all military aid and pledges “I will not vote to enable mass killings, apartheid, or the collective punishment of innocent people,” without naming Israel. Counter-case: 3/4, since the cutoff came inside an answer on farming and the Iran war, framed as “No more funding to the Middle East”; his written platform is a conditions stance; and asked in April whether Israel is committing genocide, he answered “No, I cannot,” because “millions of dollars will be spent against me.”
