Tier 3/4, between “Pro-Israel, critical” and “Critical / conditions aid”
In his August 2025 Ballotpedia survey he names among the nation's greatest challenges that “our international commitments, including our relationship with Israel and our financing of conflicts in the Middle East, require careful oversight to ensure that U.S. resources are being used responsibly and in ways that align with our national interests.” Endorsed by Emgage Action, whose criteria bar candidates “funded by or aligned with AIPAC.” In his 2026 general-election questionnaire for iVoterGuide he wrote that the relationship with Israel “does not give Israel a blank check” and that “Until Israel complies with those obligations, the United States should stop providing military weapons and aid.” Asked by Florida Politics (August 2026) whether he would vote to continue funding Israel’s defense, he answered “At this time, no,” since the U.S. “should not continue providing military aid to Israel, or any nation, that is actively engaged in actions that violate international law or amount to war crimes,” and called for “security, dignity, and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.” He has not named Gaza or the genocide.
A 3/4, on a thin record. His August 2025 survey treats U.S. financing of Middle East conflicts, Israel included, as something to be overseen and justified against the national interest — an accountability step toward limiting aid, made mid-genocide, with no pro-Israel frame-keeping beside it. His 2026 general-election questionnaire goes further, saying the U.S. “should stop providing military weapons and aid” until Israel complies with international law — a withholding pledge with no carve-out. That pledge is the reach toward 4; what holds him short of it is that he has not named the genocide or called for a ceasefire, and the pledge rests on two short written answers, to iVoterGuide and to Florida Politics (August 2026). Counter-case: a 3, since the pledge lives only in written questionnaires and is a suspension until Israel complies rather than an end to aid.
