Eunice Lehmacher
D · U.S. House, SC-3 · Tier 2
Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2024 questionnaire, when she ran for the South Carolina House, whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Lehmacher answered: “Yes, Israel is an ally and we should support them as we support all allies. However, should Israeli government commit crimes (as defined by international law), they should be held accountable.” A Clemson medical social worker and psychotherapist, she runs on health care, lowering prices and cheaper clean energy; her “Peace, not War” page and 2026 survey oppose the U.S. war with Iran and call for Congress to reclaim its war powers, without mentioning Israel.
A thin 2. Her one statement on Israel is her answer to iVoterGuide’s 2024 questionnaire, when she ran for the South Carolina House: “Yes, Israel is an ally and we should support them as we support all allies. However, should Israeli government commit crimes (as defined by international law), they should be held accountable.” That is support for the alliance on the same terms as any other, joined to accountability under international law, with no line about Israel’s right to defend itself. She names no step on aid or weapons and says nothing directly about Gaza or Palestinians. She left the question unanswered in 2026, and her campaign site (including its “Peace, not War” page) and her 2020, 2024 and 2026 Ballotpedia surveys address the Iran war, tariffs and war powers but never Israel or Gaza. On a thin record: one questionnaire answer from 2024. Counter-cases: a 2/3, giving the accountability clause more weight; or a 1/2, reading the answer as a plain ally sentence.
