Frank Pallone
D · U.S. House, NJ-6 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
'Life-long supporter of the state of Israel'; votes for aid; AIPAC 2026 endorsee. He crossed party lines to vote for continued arms to Israel over Biden's pause, voted twice to sanction the ICC, and is DMFI-endorsed as well. On Sep 24, 2026 Pallone signed a 72-member House letter urging Netanyahu to contain settler violence in the West Bank, prosecute attacks on Palestinians and “halt further settlement approvals,” written “out of concern for Israel’s long-term security as well as for the safety of Palestinians.” In July 2025, asked about Gaza, he said “We have to do more to make sure the aid gets in, because obviously a lot of it isn’t,” and in July 2026 he signed the letter urging Netanyahu to remove the settler fence blocking Umm al-Kheir’s schoolchildren. In June 2026 he signed the Balint letter asking the administration to “stop arms transfers being used in these operations until these violations cease” if U.S. weapons are confirmed in Israel’s demolitions in southern Lebanon, and voted for both June 2026 Lebanon war-powers resolutions, including H.Con.Res.84, which most House Democrats opposed. In May 2025 he joined the statement of 41 House Democrats that DMFI organized with Rep. Dan Goldman on hostage release, humanitarian aid and a post-Hamas Gaza. In January 2024 he signed the Smith–Manning letter, whose signers “thoroughly reject” South Africa’s “charge of genocide” against Israel; in April 2024, the letter urging Speaker Johnson to bring the Senate’s $95 billion supplemental, with its aid to Israel, to a vote; and in May 2024, the Gottheimer–Hill letter of 51 members urging terrorism sanctions on UNRWA staff tied to October 7.
A 1/2, not a 2: a long pro-Israel record with late daylight. Through 2024 his votes and letters point to the pro-Israel end: the April 2024 aid package; as one of 16 Democrats, the May 2024 bill forcing delivery of Biden’s paused bombs; the Anti-BDS Labeling Act; the October 2023 letter to Egypt’s ambassador (“We unequivocally support Israel’s right to defend itself”), the January 2024 letter rejecting South Africa’s genocide charge and the May 2024 UNRWA-sanctions letter. He voted for both ICC-sanctions bills (2024, 2025) and, in July 2026, against cutting Israel’s military financing. The daylight comes from July 2025 on, in words (“We have to do more to make sure the aid gets in”) and 2026 letters he signed to Netanyahu on the Umm al-Kheir fence and settler violence (“halt further settlement approvals”). Counter-case: a 2. Those letters press Israel’s own conduct; he signed the June 2026 Balint letter asking to stop arms transfers used in southern Lebanon “until these violations cease,” voted for a Lebanon war-powers resolution most House Democrats opposed, and opposed the September 2026 anti-boycott bill.
