Tier 4/5, between “Critical / conditions aid” and “Critical on most positions”
Dallas pastor (Friendship-West) who won the March 2026 primary in a landslide for Crockett's open, safe-Democratic seat — effectively member-elect. Accused Israel of 'apartheid' in an Oct. 8, 2023 sermon citing Jimmy Carter, has named the 'genocide' of Palestinians for years, pushed Biden to cut off US support for Israel, and made opposition to AIPAC central. He runs on ending US military support for Israel.
A 4/5. Haynes has spoken against Israel’s conduct since the war began: in an October 8, 2023 sermon, quoting Jimmy Carter, he said “Israel is engaging in apartheid with Palestinians” and that “this country is going to stand on the side of apartheid,” and in January 2024 he urged President Biden, on CNN, to tell Netanyahu, “we will no longer give you financial resources. We will no longer give you military resources.” That ends U.S. aid in his own words; The Intercept and Jewish Insider report that he calls the war in Gaza a genocide. In the same CNN interview, asked whether justice for Palestine can coexist with security for Israel, he answered, “Without question.” Counter-case: Jewish Insider, the only source, reports that on his own podcast he called for an arms embargo (October 2024) and described Israel’s founding as the “stealing of that land from the indigenous people” (April 2025); if confirmed in his own words, those would point to 5 or 5/6.
