Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
First-term Republican who calls Israel “hands down, bar none” America’s “most critical ally in the Middle East” and says standing by Israel “really goes to the core of my faith” (interview his office republished, Jan 2025); a two-state solution, he says, is “up to Israel.” He voted for the ICC sanctions bill (Jan 2025), against Massie’s amendment to strip Israel’s $3.3 billion in military financing and for the FY2027 State–foreign operations bill that carries it (Jul 2026), and wrote the June 2025 House resolution denouncing the Boulder firebombing, which paired the antisemitism condemnation with visa-vetting and ICE language.
A 1/2, not a clean 1. The record is uniformly pro-Israel: ICC sanctions, the FMF votes, Israel’s “indisputable right to exist” (June 2025), and no statement of concern for Palestinian civilians anywhere found. His only authored measure touching the issue, the Boulder resolution (filed as H.Res.485, then as H.Res.488, which passed), is an antisemitism-and-immigration measure rather than Israel policy — and there is no arms or aid legislation of his own, no pro-Israel fundraising role and no maximalist brand. Faith-framed support and deferring a two-state outcome to Israel stay inside a pro-Israel frame but are not leadership on the issue.
