Gabe Firment

R · U.S. House, LA-5 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A Louisiana state representative since 2020, he coauthored House Resolution 353 (June 2024), which condemns “antisemitic violence on college campuses” and says campus protests against the genocide “have devolved into violent, antisemitic mobs,” and voted for it and its twin, HCR 123. He also voted for the House resolutions commending Israel in 2022 and 2023 — the latter hailing Judea and Samaria as “returned to Israel” — and for the 2025 resolution condemning the murders of two Israeli Embassy staffers; he was absent for the 2024 House vote on SCR 21 backing Israel's war, and his congressional campaign site says nothing about Israel.

Why this tier

A 1/2 on a thin record. Every act on his statehouse record points the same way — a coauthorship of the campus-antisemitism resolution and Yea votes on Israel commemorations and the embassy-murders resolution — with no expressed concern for Palestinian civilians and no statement on Israel in his own words. None of it is leadership: he authored none of the measures, all were nonbinding, and every vote was unanimous. The counter-case is not rated: unanimous ceremonial votes say little about an individual, and his one coauthorship is a campus-antisemitism measure rather than Israel policy.
