Tier 5, “Critical on most positions”
A former Army Ranger with four Afghanistan deployments, now an anti-war commentator and host of the Colonial Outcasts podcast, he is the Green nominee in TX-31. Carried out of Pete Hegseth’s January 2025 confirmation hearing, he shouted “Twenty years of illegal war and genocide in Gaza!” and, as CODEPINK reported it, “No money for disasters. Only $8 billion for Israel to slaughter children”; in 2025 he led the veterans’ delegation of the Global Sumud Flotilla, sailing “to provide relief supplies and break Israel’s blockade,” and was detained by Israeli forces. His campaign site says he has made a career “speaking out against genocide and war,” and he takes no PAC money. At a May 2025 Capitol Hill news conference with Rep. Rashida Tlaib on Israel’s blockade of Gaza, he spoke of the “occupation and apartheid” imposed on Palestinians. In August 2026 he told Community Impact his first priority would be “to keep taxpayer dollars working at home, rather than sending them overseas to subsidize foreign governments, including Israel,” and in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire he put first among his cuts to government waste: “Stop subsidizing Israel.” He rejected AZAPAC’s endorsement after The Intercept asked about the group, saying “I have always used my platform to fight against racial superiority.”
A 5. He names the genocide in his own voice (at Pete Hegseth’s January 2025 confirmation hearing, at a May 2025 news conference on Israel’s blockade of Gaza, and on his 2026 site), and ending U.S. money to Israel is the first priority in both of his 2026 questionnaires: “Stop subsidizing Israel” (iVoterGuide) and keeping taxpayer dollars home “rather than sending them overseas to subsidize foreign governments, including Israel” (Community Impact, August 2026). Behind the words is action: he led the veterans’ delegation of the 2025 Global Sumud Flotilla to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza and was detained by Israeli forces, and he speaks of the “occupation and apartheid” imposed on Palestinians. Nothing in his own words takes a position on Zionism, BDS, the right of return or a single state; Middle East Eye’s description of him as anti-Zionist is the reporter’s. Counter-case: 4/5, since his cutoff is argued in money terms and never says whether defensive systems are covered.
