J.D. Ford
D · U.S. House, IN-5 · not rated
On iVoterGuide’s questionnaire for his 2022 state Senate race he answered “Disagree” to supporting the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement; no other position on Israel, Gaza or Palestine was found. A state senator since 2018 and Indiana’s first openly LGBTQ+ legislator, he runs on affordability, care costs and accountability; on foreign policy he opposes the Iran war, calling it “a unilateral war of choice” that “needed to go through Congress” in a February 28, 2026 statement, and attacks Rep. Victoria Spartz for voting to keep it going.
Not rated: his campaign site (home, About, Platform, news posts), his 2026 and 2018 Ballotpedia surveys and his WFYI voter-guide interview contain nothing on Israel, Gaza or Palestine. As a state senator he had votes on Indiana’s 2024 antisemitism-definition bill (HB 1002), which the Senate passed 42-6 before the governor’s veto; he voted Yea on Senate passage (March 5, 2024) and on the conference report (March 8, 2024; 45-1), whose final text adopted the IHRA definition without its contemporary examples. His one stated position is the 2022 “Disagree” on BDS.
