Jake Auchincloss
D · U.S. House, MA-4 · Tier 2
Tier 2, “Mainstream pro-Israel”
A Jewish Marine veteran and one of the most pro-Israel members of the Massachusetts delegation. He voted for both 2024 Israel aid packages (H.R.7217 and H.R.8034), but against the November 2023 Republican aid bill, the May 2024 bill forcing the paused arms shipment, the IHRA bill and both ICC-sanctions bills; he was one of 103 Democrats voting for the July 15, 2026 Massie amendment stripping Israel’s military financing from the FY27 foreign-operations bill (roll 243) — a vote he announced in advance and called “a pro-Israel, anti-Netanyahu vote,” disavowing Massie for antisemitic tropes and pledging to hold air defense, humanitarian programming and West Bank security assistance harmless. AIPAC is his largest career contributor: $547,380 in 2019–2024 by OpenSecrets, more than five times his next-largest (Bain Capital, $97,400), and FEC records show nearly $1M from AIPAC’s PAC from 2022 on. He proactively leads on the pro-Israel side — heading a Democratic letter urging the Arab League to pressure Hamas (praised by DMFI), framing the war on Gaza as “a liberal democracy versus an evil terrorist cult.” In January 2024 he signed the Smith–Manning letter, whose signers “thoroughly reject” South Africa’s “charge of genocide” against Israel.
A 2. AIPAC’s PAC gave Auchincloss $986,715 from 2022 on, but he breaks with the pro-Israel line. He voted against the Antisemitism Awareness Act, the May 2024 bill forcing the paused bomb shipment and both ICC-sanctions bills, for both June 2026 Lebanon war-powers resolutions, and on July 15, 2026 for the Massie amendment stripping Israel’s military financing, “a pro-Israel, anti-Netanyahu vote” in his words. To GBH in August 2025: “Hamas has the culpability but Israel has the responsibility. Starvation is not acceptable.” He signed 2025 letters for Tufts student Rümeysa Öztürk’s release and against West Bank annexation. Holding him at 2: Yeas on both 2024 aid packages, the “river to the sea” resolution and, after the Massie vote, the college anti-boycott bill; a September 2025 letter he co-led urging Rubio to work with the Arab League to press Hamas; and three 2024 letters, urging a vote on the Senate aid package, seeking a briefing on Iranian influence in anti-Israel protests and warning the UN against downgrading Israel. Counter-case: 2/3, on the Massie vote beside the starvation words.
