Tier 1, “Firmly pro-Israel”
As chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Comer toured the Palestine-solidarity encampment at George Washington University in May 2024 — his release called it “the radical, antisemitic, and unlawful encampment” — called on D.C.'s mayor to have police “clear out the unlawful encampment”, scheduled an emergency hearing, and after the police cleared it said “the potential Oversight hearing led to swift action.” He then opened an inquiry into how “pro-Hamas propaganda and illegal encampments are being funded and supported”, demanding documents from National Students for Justice in Palestine through American Muslims for Palestine and warning that the committee “will consider the compulsory process” (May–Jun 2024); he also probed the Biden administration's May 2024 weapons pause, accusing it of “political games” with aid to Israel, and has pursued UNRWA over staff accused of joining the October 7 attack (Oct 2025). He has voted the pro-Israel side of every tracked measure — the 2023–24 Israel supplementals, H.Res.894, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, the May 2024 bill to force the paused bomb shipment (H.R.8369), both ICC-sanctions bills, the Gaza casualty-figures amendment and the September 2026 anti-boycott bill — and against the 2025 Greene and July 2026 Massie cuts.
A clean 1. Comer has used the Oversight chairmanship for a sustained campaign against Palestine-solidarity organizing: he pressed D.C. to clear the GWU encampment and claimed the result, then opened funding investigations into National SJP and American Muslims for Palestine, alongside probes of UNRWA and of the 2024 arms pause. That is personal leadership rather than a reliable vote, and nothing in his record expresses concern for Palestinian civilians. Counter-case: none strong — even read narrowly as committee oversight, the targets and the volume set him apart from members who only vote and issue statements.
