Jay Bowman

I · U.S. House, KY-6 · Tier 2/3

Tier 2/3, between “Mainstream pro-Israel” and “Pro-Israel, critical”

Position

Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he wrote: “Important but our foreign policy must remain balanced and humane. Having personal family ties to the Palestinian community, I know the goodness of the people and strongly oppose the devastating civilian toll and actions taking place in Gaza. We must honor our strategic alliances while using our global leverage to demand the protection of innocent lives and uphold basic human dignity.” A Lexington small-business owner and 2024 independent presidential candidate running on his “Zero One Hundred” tax plan (no federal income tax up to $100,000), a living wage, single-payer health care and limits on data centers; his national-defense plank stresses strategic spending and cooperation with allies.

Why this tier

A 2/3, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, he wrote: “Having personal family ties to the Palestinian community, I know the goodness of the people and strongly oppose the devastating civilian toll and actions taking place in Gaza.” That is criticism of how the war is fought, not boilerplate concern, and he wants “our global leverage” used “to demand the protection of innocent lives.” But he frames it with “We must honor our strategic alliances” and names no step on weapons or aid; his campaign issues page and Ballotpedia surveys say nothing on Israel or Gaza. Counter-cases: a flat 3 if the leverage line is read as a commitment to act; a flat 2 if the alliance line is read as the controlling frame.
