Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

On his campaign's issues page (quoted by Ballotpedia in April and July 2026) he pledges “In Congress, I will stand unapologetically with Israel and fight to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship,” says he has “stood on the border of Gaza” and seen “the sniper walls Israel must use to protect innocent families from terrorist rockets,” and says that under Biden support for Israel “has been dangerously weakened.” A former NFL kicker and CBS analyst, he won the July 2026 Republican primary for the open AZ-1 seat and also pledges to fight antisemitism on college campuses. At an October 11, 2026 Jewish Community Relations Council forum, Jewish News reported, he said, “Israel is never the aggressor. They haven’t been since 1948. They always respond to the attacks on them,” and “I believe that one party is standing on the side of Israel, and one party is standing on the side of the terrorists.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, not a clean 1. His documented position is unqualified support — standing “unapologetically with Israel” and restoring a commitment he says Biden weakened — with nothing on Gaza's civilians, which rules out a flat 2; Gaza appears only as the place Israel's walls defend against. At an October 2026 Jewish community forum he said “Israel is never the aggressor.” There is no leadership on the issue: he has held no office and authored nothing, and the campus-antisemitism pledge is campaign rhetoric, not a crackdown he has led. Counter-case: a clean 1 if a hardline brand or authored Israel measure emerges; a flat 2 if he expresses concern for Palestinian civilians.
