Jeff Frese

R · U.S. House, CA-10 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A Moraga businessman who built and sold a national snack brand, challenging Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, he runs on term limits, a congressional stock-trading ban, affordability and public safety, and takes no PAC money. His site lists BAJC-Action (Bay Area Jewish Coalition) among his endorsers. Asked in iVoterGuide’s 2026 general-election questionnaire whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Frese answered: “Yes. Israel is our closest ally in the Middle East and the only real democracy there. We share intelligence, defense technology, and enemies. An ally under attack should be able to count on us, and Congress shouldn't cut its defense funding in the middle of a fight. Iran cannot be allowed to get a nuclear weapon.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record: one questionnaire answer. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Frese called Israel “our closest ally in the Middle East” and said “Congress shouldn't cut its defense funding in the middle of a fight.” That is support for keeping military aid flowing during the war, with no word for Gaza’s civilians. His one-page campaign site and Ballotpedia survey never mention Israel, Gaza or Palestine. There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until he says more.
