Jeffrey Walter

R · U.S. House, IL-11 · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

In his 2026 general-election iVoterGuide questionnaire he called Israel “a close democratic ally in a strategically vital and often unstable region” that “shares intelligence, military cooperation, and technological innovation that strengthen U.S. national security and help counter terrorism and hostile actors.” A retired Navy master chief, former Accenture technology manager and mayor of Elburn since 2017, he won the March 2026 GOP primary to face Rep. Bill Foster, running on Trump’s economic agenda, border security and veterans; his foreign-policy plank backs “peace through strength.”

Why this tier

A 1/2, on a thin record: two questionnaire answers. Asked by iVoterGuide in 2026 whether the U.S. relationship with Israel is important, Walter called Israel “a close democratic ally in a strategically vital and often unstable region.” That is unqualified support, with nothing on Gaza or Palestinian civilians. In a Shaw Local questionnaire (September 24, 2026) he backed “Israel’s right to defend itself and continued U.S.-Israel security cooperation, particularly missile defense,” cited the 10-year agreement “providing military and missile-defense assistance through 2028,” and named as the goal “a lasting peace that provides security and opportunity for both Israelis and Palestinians”: continued military aid with a general peace line, and nothing on Gaza. His positions and about pages and his 2025 Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey never mention Israel, Gaza or Palestine; the one foreign-policy line defers to Trump (“peace through strength,” negotiating peace “in places like Ukraine”). There is no leadership on the issue: no vote, bill or other act on Israel is on record. Counter-case: unrated until he says more.
