Tier 4, “Critical / conditions aid”

Position

A NY state legislator (AD-34 incumbent; won the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary for SD-13), DSA member, and JFREJ-endorsed progressive who cosponsored the “Not on Our Dime” Act barring NY nonprofits from funding West Bank settlements. She called for a ceasefire early (Oct 2023) but framed it as “both sides” and has no genocide, arms-embargo, or BDS statement in her own voice. Her Oct 2023 statement mourned “the loss of Israeli & Palestinian civilian lives,” and she has no anti-Zionist statement in her own voice. On the night of October 22, 2026, after Brad Lander’s release from Israeli military custody in the West Bank, she thanked him and the rabbis and peace groups with him on X “for your courage, support, and solidarity with the people of” Palestine, adding: “Wishing safety, peace and an end to the war and occupation in Gaza. ¡Basta!”

Why this tier

A Tier 4 whose legislative conduct has moved beyond liberal Zionism: she cosponsored the “Not on Our Dime” Act (a settlement-divestment measure JFREJ itself backs), is a DSA member, and was enthusiastically endorsed by JFREJ as “by far the best candidate in this race.” What keeps her from moving further toward the critical end is that her own voice on Israel and Gaza stays cautious — her Oct 2023 ceasefire call was framed as “both sides” (“I mourn the loss of Israeli & Palestinian civilian lives”), and she has no genocide, arms-embargo, BDS, or anti-Zionist statement in her own voice. A 4 whose personal framing hasn't yet caught up to her legislative record.
