Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
In Congress since January 2025; running against Bob Good in May 2024 he told Jewish Insider “We need to let Israel do what Israel needs to do” and, of a ceasefire, “we’re going to tell them how to wage war?” He has voted for sanctions on the International Criminal Court over the Netanyahu and Gallant warrants (Jan 2025), final passage of H.R.8595 and the September 2026 college anti-boycott bill, and against the 2025 Greene and 2026 Massie cuts and every 2026 Iran and Lebanon war-powers resolution, and he cosponsored the ICC-sanctions bill and the U.S.-Israel Defense Partnership Act (H.R.1229). He applauded the March 2026 strikes on Iran in which “the United States, alongside its ally Israel, have launched a series of targeted strikes”; none of his press releases addresses Gaza or Palestinians. After the American Israel Education Foundation’s August 2025 trip for freshman Republicans, he said he had advised Netanyahu to “get the job done” — by Jewish Insider’s account, to stay in Gaza until Hamas is defeated — adding, “We want to get the hostages home, but if we don’t finish the job, you’re going to have more hostages.”
A 1/2, not a clean 1. Every Israel vote he has cast sits at the pro-Israel end, and in 2024 he dismissed the idea of a ceasefire; nothing in his record expresses concern for Palestinian civilians, which rules out a flat 2. But he has written no Israel legislation, holds no caucus role and has no brand built on Israel — cosponsorships, a campaign interview and his advice to Netanyahu on a sponsored trip are support rather than leadership. Counter-case: none on the present record.
