Julia Letlow

R · U.S. Senate, Louisiana · Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”

Position

A reliable conservative-Republican pro-Israel vote with a domestic legislative brand of her own (rural broadband, agriculture, the Parents Bill of Rights, Appropriations) and no authored Israel legislation — though she joins other members' Israel bills readily, including as an original cosponsor of the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, written to force delivery of the arms Biden paused. Trump-endorsed; won the June 27, 2026 Republican Senate runoff against John Fleming. In January 2024 she signed the Smith–Manning letter, whose signers “thoroughly reject” South Africa’s “charge of genocide” against Israel. On Oct 21, 2026, sharing a House committee report on antisemitism in K-12 curricula, she wrote that “districts that teach students to hate Israel must be held accountable.”

Why this tier

A 1/2. She votes the full Republican pro-Israel line: Yea on the April 2024 Israel aid package, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, H.R.8369 and the June 2024 ICC-sanctions bill, No on the July 2026 Massie amendment to strip Israel’s military financing, and Yea on the September 2026 anti-boycott bill. She was an original cosponsor of H.R.8369, written to force delivery of the arms Biden paused, but she has written no Israel legislation and her legislative brand is domestic, so nothing marks her as a leader on Israel for a clean 1. No concern for Palestinian civilians appears in her own words, so a flat 2 does not fit.
