I · U.S. House, OR-4 · Tier 5/6

Tier 5/6, between “Critical on most positions” and “Most critical of Israel / supports Palestine”

Position

Pacific Green Party secretary making a second run against Rep. Val Hoyle. His platform calls on the President and Congress to “suspend all military and foreign aid, including loans and grants, to Israel until Israel withdraws from the Occupied Territories” and ends the siege of Gaza, settler colonies and “systemic apartheid toward its non-Jewish citizens”; his stated top priorities include “ending the genocide in Palestine,” and he has pledged he “will not accept donations from the pro-Israel lobby, unlike my opponent” (July 2024). In April 2024 he co-founded UO Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine, and his campaign says the University of Oregon fired him after he tried to start a “no donations until divestment” campaign. In an October 2024 OPB questionnaire he wrote, “I support the Boycott Divest and Sanction movement,” and a February 2026 campaign post quotes the Green Party's call for “divestment from and boycott of the State of Israel.”

Why this tier

A 5/6. He backs BDS by name in his own words, writing in an October 2024 OPB candidate questionnaire: “I support the Boycott Divest and Sanction movement.” Beside it stands a full cutoff in his own voice: he would “suspend all military and foreign aid” to Israel, defensive systems included, he names the genocide and he calls Israel’s rule apartheid. In April 2024 he co-founded UO Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine and, by his campaign’s account, lost his university job after a divestment push. What keeps him short of a clean 6 is that his demands end with the occupation: the aid suspension lasts “until Israel withdraws from the Occupied Territories,” and his 2024 call was for “an arms embargo in place until Israel ends the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank.” He does not describe himself as anti-Zionist or back the right of return, and his campaign’s 2026 boycott language quotes the Green Party. Counter-cases: 6, on years of activism and a job lost over divestment; 5, since the BDS line is one 2024 answer.
