Tier 5, “Critical on most positions”
Democratic-socialist organizer who lost the July 21, 2026 AZ-4 Democratic primary to incumbent Greg Stanton, 37.7% to 62.3%. Backs a complete arms embargo and an end to all US military aid to Israel, which he calls a genocide, and refuses AIPAC, corporate-PAC, and super-PAC money. He holds no BDS, right-of-return, or anti-Zionist position. He was arrested at a November 2024 White House arms-embargo sit-in. In 2024 he was a founder of Harris Voters for Human Rights, a coalition backing Harris while pressing her on Gaza; on Election Day he told “voters who can’t yet entrust Harris with their votes because of the genocide” that “you can trust us to fight to push Harris to end it if we put her in office together.”
A 5. In his own words he backs an arms embargo on Israel and an end to all U.S. military aid, and he names the genocide; a week after the 2024 election he was arrested at a White House sit-in demanding the embargo (“U.S. law requires an arms embargo”), and his 2026 campaign kept the stance: “No more military aid to Israel for war crimes and genocide.” He holds no BDS, right-of-return or anti-Zionist position, which keeps him short of 6. Before that election, after naming the genocide, he helped found Harris Voters for Human Rights and campaigned for the Harris ticket, telling voters who held back “because of the genocide” that “you can trust us to fight to push Harris to end it if we put her in office together.” That wavering is the counter-case, toward 4/5. The 5 holds because his embargo stance did not bend with it: he took it to the White House gate a week later and has kept it since.
