Kalman Yeger
D · New York State Assembly, District 41 · Tier 1/2
Tier 1/2, between “Firmly pro-Israel” and “Mainstream pro-Israel”
Conservative Democrat with a long-standing strong pro-Israel public profile; takes part in Agudath Israel’s legislative advocacy events. Assembly member for AD-41 since January 2025; represented City Council District 44 from 2018 to 2024. Tweeted “Palestine does not exist” and doubled down unapologetically; calls Palestinians “so-called.” In the Assembly he cosponsors A2139-A and A4758-A, which would have state agencies and the education department weigh the IHRA definition of antisemitism, with its contemporary examples, in discrimination reviews.
A 1/2, not a clean 1. His public signature on Palestine is rhetoric from 2018 and 2019, posted on his own account: a 2018 post that the “ultimate goal” of the “so-called ‘Palestinians’” is “the destruction of the Jewish state and its people,” and in March 2019, “Palestine does not exist. There, I said it again.” He narrowed that the same day (“I never said anything about the people”) but did not retract it, and it cost him his seat on the City Council’s immigration committee. No comparable statement from him has surfaced since. In the Assembly, where he has served since 2025, his record is cosponsorship rather than authorship: A2139-A, which would have state agencies weigh the IHRA definition of antisemitism and its contemporary examples in discrimination cases, and A4758-A, which would do the same in education-department reviews. No concern for Palestinian civilians appears in his record. Counter-case: a 1 if denying Palestine across two years of his own posts is read as a sustained brand.
