Kristen Gonzalez

D · New York State Senate, District 59 · Tier 4/5

Tier 4/5, between “Critical / conditions aid” and “Critical on most positions”

Position

SD-59 incumbent; co-sponsor of “Not on Our Dime.” Oct 2023: “Just as I condemned the Hamas terrorist attacks, I condemn the genocidal actions of the IDF. Collective punishment is a war crime,” and called for “an immediate ceasefire.” She also co-signed the Socialists in Office statement naming the Gaza genocide and apartheid; her Oct 2023 remarks also condemned “all violence against civilians” and grieved “the hundreds of Palestinians and Israelis.” In October 2025 she wrote of “the genocide that has transpired since then,” called for “an immediate and permanent end to this war” and “an end to the bombings and blockades in Gaza,” and for “the safe return of all hostages.”

Why this tier

A 4/5, on her record as a state senator. She cosponsors Not on Our Dime (S606, introduced January 2025), and she names the genocide in her own words: “the genocidal actions of the IDF” (October 2023) and, two years on, “the genocide that has transpired since then” (October 2025), with calls for “an immediate and permanent end to this war” and “an end to the bombings and blockades in Gaza.” She also co-signed the April 2024 Socialists in Office statement naming the genocide in Gaza and Israeli apartheid. What stops her short of 5 is that nothing in her own voice would cut off U.S. weapons or military aid to Israel: her demands are a ceasefire, humanitarian aid into Gaza and the release of all hostages, and she grieves Israeli and Palestinian lives together. Nor does she question Israel’s legitimacy as a Jewish state, by BDS or otherwise. Counter-case: 5, since a state senator has no vote on U.S. aid or arms, and Not on Our Dime is the measure within her reach.
